Activated Carbon (Activated Charcoal) for Horses
ACTIVATED CARBON is Equine Technology’s premium Australian-made source of activated carbon, also commonly known as activated charcoal.
Formulated specifically for horses, activated carbon is widely recognised for its adsorption properties within the digestive tract. It may assist in binding certain unwanted substances and supporting normal intestinal function, particularly during periods of dietary change or digestive upset.
While research in equine applications continues to develop, many horse owners report improvements in manure consistency, coat condition, and overall wellbeing when incorporated appropriately into feeding programs.
The versatility of ACTIVATED CARBON allows feeding rates to be adjusted based on individual horse needs and specific situations.
Directions for Use
Adult Horses & Ponies
General intestinal support / stress / feed changes:
Feed 2–4 g per 100 kg body weight daily.
Mild digestive disturbances (bloating, flatulence, mild diarrhoea):
Feed 5–15 g per 100 kg body weight daily for 7–10 days.
Seek veterinary advice if intending to extend use.
Divide the daily amount into two equal feeds where possible and mix into moistened feed.
Allow at least 2 hours between activated charcoal and any oral supplements or medications to minimise potential interactions.
Important Information
Activated charcoal is not a universal antidote and is not effective against all toxins.
In cases of suspected poisoning, seek immediate veterinary attention, as required dosages may be significantly higher than standard feeding rates.
Discontinue use at least 72 hours prior to competition.
Pregnant or lactating mares and foals:
Use only under veterinary advice.
Ensure horses have free access to clean, fresh drinking water at all times.
